In Ayurveda, sleep is considered one of the three pillars of life, essential for restoring both body and mind. In this class, we’ll explore the Ayurvedic view of sleep and how it’s deeply intertwined with the nervous system. We’ll discuss the doshic imbalances that lead to sleep disturbances—from the overstimulation of Vata to the overheated mind of Pitta—and how to gently guide the body back into rhythm. You’ll be introduced to nervine herbs—those that nourish and calm the nervous system—like Jatamansi, Nutmeg, & Shankapushpi along with complimentary Western herbs like Passionflower, Skullcap, and Oat Straw. Together, we’ll explore their properties, taste them, and learn how to create calming evening rituals. We’ll also touch on daily routines, breath practices, and sleep hygiene that can anchor your nervous system and support deep rest. This class is perfect for anyone struggling with stress, anxiety, or poor sleep, and will leave you with a toolkit of herbal and lifestyle practices to cultivate grounded rest and long-term resilience. We’ll be making medicine together in class-bring your 4oz jar along to take home your herbal goodies!
