Description

Join us for this special Community Class with guest instructor Mel Kasting, RH (AHG)! Mel is a Clinical Herbalist and Clinical Director at the Eclectic School of Herbal Medicine. She also is a Community Educator for Forest Edge Herbals. Foundational to her clinical practice is a commitment to client-centered care and an awareness of how personal, cultural, and societal traumas affect our health.
Integrating relational health skills into our client interactions helps to create safer space for our clients, builds client retention, and helps us to grow as practitioners.
This 5-hour workshop is designed primarily for clinical students, practicing herbalists, and other progressive healthcare practitioners. However, anyone with an interest in healthcare is warmly welcome to join!
This workshop will provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the client-centered care model. It will delve into the complexities of trauma-informed care and explore how our inherent biases can impact our clients - and the steps we can take to mitigate these effects. Participants will also explore creative ways to integrate harm reduction strategies into their clinical practice.
The workshop is discussion-oriented, with exercises designed to let participants put their new skills into practice. By the end of the session, participants will be equipped to incorporate and practice clinical skills related to client-centered care, harm reduction, and trauma awareness into their work.
Upon completion, participants will receive additional resources to support continued learning and practice.
Cost: $150. This workshop will be offered In Person and Virtually
